Rachael Colley is a Registered Dietitian and a Full Member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA). She specialises in the areas of weight management, chronic health conditions and learning disabilities. She has 23 years’ experience of working in the NHS and brings this to her freelance practice.
Using her NHS experience as a Weight Management Specialist Dietitian in a Tier 3 weight management service, Rachael is ideally placed to support you if you are self-funding weight loss injections (Mounjaro, Wegovy or Saxenda) or medication (Orlistat/Xenical). She is experienced in supporting those with varied and multiple health conditions. She offers evidence-based expert guidance, tailored support, a personalised plan and brings an empowering, encouraging holistic approach.
Using her NHS experience as Long Covid Lead Dietitian, her personal experience of MS and living with someone with psoriatic arthritis and fibromyalgia, Rachael brings a unique perspective on the multiple challenges of long-term energy limiting autoimmune inflammatory conditions. She is passionate about supporting people to eat well for better health in the here and now, despite the difficult symptoms (including unwanted weight gain) that these conditions can bring.
Rachael is part of a network of UK Dietitians focussing on supporting those with energy limiting conditions - including ME/CFS, Long Covid, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) and Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (PoTS).
Using her NHS experience as a Specialist Learning Disabilities Dietitian, Rachael is keen to use her skill and expertise to provide training for care providers of adults with learning disabilities. She can offer tailor-made programmes to educate and empower carers who work with and support this client group.
Rachael is the Education Officer for the BDA’s Learning Disabilities Specialist Sub Group. In 2024 she co-facilitated the BDA’s virtual classroom courses “Advancing Dietetics in Learning Disabilities” and “Assessing Capacity regarding Diet, Weight and Health”. Rachael is looking forward to co-delivering the workshop "From Awareness to Practical Solutions: Nutrition and Healthy Living for Better Health." at the upcoming British Institute of Learning Disabilities (BILD) annual Growing Older with Learning Disabilities (GOLD) conference taking place on 12 March 2025.
