Every journey is different, but this is what you can generally expect when we work together.
A free, 15 minute opportunity to tell me a little about what has been happening, ask any initial questions and consider whether my experience and approach are likely to be a good fit for you.
The Discovery Call is not a dietetic assessment, and I will not provide detailed advice or recommendations during the call. If I do not think I am the right Dietitian to help, I will always tell you.
Before your first appointment, I will invite you to complete a Before We Meet form.
This helps me begin to understand your health, symptoms, eating, daily life, current capacity and what you are hoping for from dietetic support. I will review this information before we meet so that we can make thoughtful use of our time together.
Your Initial Consultation gives you time and space to explain what has been happening—and to feel heard and understood.
I will clarify and build on the information you have shared so that we can develop a clearer understanding of what may be affecting your nutrition and making it harder to eat well or achieve the goals that matter to you.
Together, we will identify what matters most and agree where your dietetic support should focus first. I will explain my clinical thinking clearly, so that you understand what we are doing and why. Without trying to address everything at once, we will agree realistic and manageable first steps.
Following your Initial Consultation, you will receive a written Consultation Summary setting out our shared understanding, the priorities we have identified and the first steps agreed together.
This will form a key part of your Journey Collection—a clear marker of where we have reached together, what matters now and what we have agreed to do next. I like to think of your Journey Collection as a personal record of this part of your dietetic journey.
Over time, your Journey Collection may grow to include carefully selected explanations, practical tools and reflections that support what we are working on. It could also be a place for you to add your own observations, learning and reminders of what has been helpful to you.
In this way, your Journey Collection will develop when there is something relevant and manageable to add, helping you remember what we agreed, what you noticed and what you learned—and giving you something useful to return to in the future.
Further appointments can be arranged individually when they would be helpful. We can review what has worked, what has been difficult, what you have learned and whether anything has changed.
We can then adapt, pause or replace our agreed steps, identify any new priorities and add further resources to your Journey Collection as appropriate.
Importantly, the aim is not to keep starting again. It is to build on your existing understanding, apply what you have learned to new situations and continue developing an approach that works with your health, circumstances and everyday life.
My aim is that, over time, you will feel increasingly able to understand what affects your eating and nutrition, recognise what supports you and make informed decisions as your health, circumstances and priorities change.
I hope our work together will give you greater clarity and confidence, alongside practical strategies and resources that you can return to when needed - long after our work has finished.
