The Long Haul Dietetic approach

Sometimes the question isn't "what should I eat?"

Sometimes the real question is:

"Who do I believe?"

For many people, the hardest part isn't a lack of information. It's that there is too much information.

Conflicting advice, changing symptoms, social media, well-meaning friends, and confident voices all claiming to have the answer can leave people feeling more confused than when they started.

When your health is already complicated, it's easy to feel overwhelmed.

That's where my approach is different.

In complex situations, eating well is rarely just about food.

When you're living with a complex health condition, pain, fatigue, digestive problems, medications and many other factors can all influence the way you eat. It's no wonder eating can feel much harder than you feel it should.

Rather than looking at each symptom in isolation, I take a whole-system approach, helping us understand how these different pieces fit together.

Eating difficulties are often a protective response rather than a lack of motivation. My role is to help us recognise and understand those patterns, so that together we can begin to find practical ways forward.

From there, we can build an approach that works for you:

  • Understanding comes first.
  • Recommendations come second.

Because when we understand why something is happening, the way forward often becomes much clearer.
